1F#1..2 CHRISTOPHER LEE VERNON
Getting an early start on the day at 5:05 A.M. could characterize Chris's jump into life on 25 March 1960. Christopher Lee Vernon was born at Crockett County Hospital in Ozona, Texas, where Dad was stationed with the 732nd Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron, U.S.A.F. Delivered by Dr. Ralph E. Simon, Chris was named after Saint Christopher, and a Lieutenant Lee who became interim squadron Commanding Officer, replacing a strict and unpopular C.O. Chris's Dad was that elated at the change of command since his unit was always on 'alert', a practice radar penetration drill for 'hostile enemy' bomber aircraft. The 'alerts' were very difficult on Air Force families living off base.

While in California and all out of high school, Chris and his brothers Dal Jr. and Ray found jobs working in fast food outlets. Dad helped them get set up in their own apartment, putting up their security deposit, and "vouching" for them. Chris and his brothers became independent citizens. Chris eventually moved into his own apartment.
On 6 May, 1989 Chris and Judith Ann Osborn (see Errata) were married at 1:00 P.M. at the Onizuka Air Force Base Satellite Club In Sunnyvale, California.
