Victoria Valerie Vernon was born 2 March, 1964, delivered by Dr. Philip de Vine at Akron General Hospital. The family lived at 642 Talbot Avenue in Akron, Ohio. Dad was apprenticing at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.

Richard Lee Scott was born 29 September 1981. His father was Richard James Scott of Akron, born 20 November, 1962 in California, son of Richard James Scott, Sr. and Phyllis Coleman. Richard James, Jr. was fatally injured in a motorcycle accident on 29 March, 1983, and is interred in Mount Hope Cemetery in Akron. Richard James, Jr. would have been 21 years old in November of the year of his death

(Author's note: On 14 September 1991 -- her older brother Dal's birthday -- Victoria Valerie Vernon was wed to Roy Bryan Swartz- b 24 May, 1961, of Akron, son of Roy Lorenz Swartz and Rolla Mae Prindle. The ceremony was performed by H. George Myers, Minister. Guests at their reception included siblings Dallie and Christine Vernon, Christopher and Judy Vernon of California, and Patricia Antoinette Vernon of West Virginia, plus assorted friends and relatives, including mother Patricia. Dad was not invited.)
