4F#2 John William Franklin Meadows was born 11 January 1906 in Charleston, Kanawa County, West Virginia. He died in Columbus, Ohio of a heart attach on this author's birthday, 5 March, 1967, and was laid to rest in grave #3, Lot #243, Section B in Dover Memorial Park, just north of Parrell Township in Tuscarawas County. John reposes beside his son, Darrell, who occupies grave #1.

John was the son of 4F#4 John Franklin Meadows and 4F#5 Ella Hall. Ella had two or three sisters, including Virginia of Mississippi. Ella, who had been in ill health for some twenty years prior to her son's marriage, worked in the local post office. She was courted by John Franklin Meadows for nine years before they were married. She passed away at age 65 some time in 1934. At this writing, this author has no further information on the Hall ancestry.

John Franklin owned a blacksmith shop and, it was said, a local hotel. It was also said that his father, Thomas, shod the hooves of Jesse James' horse. Without knowing who he was, yet.

John Franklin was working for the City of Charleston in 1931 when his son John William and Josephine were married. He was said to be a strong Republican, and to have once shot a man.

John Franklin and Ella had four children:

4F#4.2 John William Franklin Meadows;

4F#4.3 Virginia Meadows- b about 1911, d 15 September 1978, m to Wilmer "Wimpy" Wolfe;

4F#4.4 (Baby) Meadows- d at about six months of age.

John Franklin Meadows was the son of 4F#8 Thomas and 4F#9 Sarah A. Meadows. Sarah was born in July 1855 in Virginia. At this writing this author has no further information on Sarah's surname or family.

Thomas was born in June of 1853 in that part of Virginia that is now West Virginia. He and Sarah had at least nine children:

4F#2 John William Franklin Meadows and 4F#3 Josephine Virginia Slaughter were married 18 October 1931. Jo and John were very much in love with one another up to and beyond the day of John's death, and they begat four beautiful children, two boys and two girls; Darrell, Betty Jo, Paul, and Carla.
