M#14 Philip Ramsey's parents were M#28 John J. Ramsey and M#29 Nancy Jane Keller.

All that this author knows about John J. Ramsey, at this writing, came from the U.S. census records, and a few copies of old legal documents archived in the West Virginia courthouses.

John J.'s name is first found in the 1880 census, although his name first appears in the 1850 census as Jackson Ramsey. In 1880, he is listed with his second wife, Sarah Holler, who brought her son Lorenzo Holler into the Ramsey family. A Ramsey cousin, Betty Lou Ramsey, provided Sarah's middle name (or family surname) -- Nestor.

John J., who carries the given name of many of his ancestors, and was apparently known as Jackson, was born some time in 1830, presumably in what was that part of Harrison County that had been Monongalia County prior to 1784 but later became Barbour County in 1843.

John J. was married to Nancy Jane Keller on 16 December 1849 by Joel Pitman in Barbour County. John J. was a farmer by occupation, owning $200 worth of land at 19 years of age, increasing his land's value to $1,000 by 1860.

M#29 Nancy Jane Keller was born in 1828. As documented by newfound cousin Betty Lou Ramsey of Belington, Barbour County, West Virginia, Nancy Jane's parents were Samuel and Nancy Keller. Nancy Jane had several siblings, and seems to have named some of her children after her siblings.

Nancy Jane Keller died 30 November 1871 (see ERRATA) in Barbour County, as recorded in Book 1, page 42 of the Barbour County Death Records.
