M#450 CASPER AND M#451 SARAH EVERLY

M#225 Mary Everly's parents were M#450 Casper and M#451 Sarah Everly. Among the information received from Cousin Betty Lou Ramsey was the name of Mary's father, Casper Everly.

A few days of diligent library research brought this author's attention to the books, Monongalia County (West) Virginia Records (of) District, Superior and County Court Volumes 1, 2, 3, and 4: 1776-1810, compiled by Melba Pender Zinn. These books are a compilation of court records found in container envelopes. The records contained in the container envelopes were apparently microfilmed and are so noted in the four volumes. Found among the data was the following:

(envelope 88-89a microfilm 17 - volume 3, page 117)

"88b-1806, District Court, Monongalia County - A motion for petition by John Ramsey and Mary his wife, formerly Mary Everly, plaintiffs, again defendants Simeon*, Samuel*, William*, Jesse*, and Rachel* Everly, Levi Jennings* and Rebecca* his wife, formerly Rebecca Everly, William Martin* and his wife Elizabeth*, formerly Elizabeth Everly, William Owens* and Charlotte* his wife, formerly Charlotte Everly, children and heirs of Casper Everly, died intestate, to partition 5 houses and two adjoining tracts containing 500 acres of land in Monongalia County (William and Elizabeth Martin sold their interest to William and Jesse Everly). The defendants refuse to divide the holdings into nine parts on the grounds it could not be done equitably and Ramsey brought suit.

September 1806 term of court, dismissed by order of the plaintiff."

"117-1800, Monongalia County Miscellaneous Papers, Bonds, Deeds, Appointments, Military Affairs, Jury Lists, Estate Papers, Licenses and Other Documents filed with the County Court Clerk --

Administrator's bond for Sarah (X) Everly and Simon Everly, for the estate of Casper Everly, deceased, secured by John W. Dean and John Harrison, 9 December, 1800. Justices John W. Dean, Edward Long, John McLean, and Michael Kerns.

At this writing this author is uncertain of Casper Everly's origin or birth date, but has reason to believe he was born in Pennsylvania, perhaps in Lancaster County. He died sometime between 11 February, 1799 (envelope 40a - 1799, District Court, Monongalia County) and 9 December, 1800 (envelope 117 - 1800, Administrator's Bond, Monongalia County).

This author believes, based on the above-mentioned administrator's bond, that Casper's wife's name was Sarah.
