M#96 GEORGE I. DAVIS...M#97 SARAH D. BUCKULA
Although undocumented, it is this author's opinion that M#58 George "Gary" Davis's parents were M#96 George I. (or A.?) Davis and M#97 Sarah D. Buckula.
George I. Davis was born about 1793, probably in Virginia -- probably in Harrison or Monongalia Counties.
On 9 September 1823, George married M#97 Sarah D. Buckula. Not much more is known about Sarah, as she does not appear in the census with the Davis family, but a Sarah D. Davis, wife of "Major" Davis, died on 20 June, 1844, a date that corresponds to the ages of the Davis offspring. In the 1850 U.S. census, George I., or A. Davis, is recorded in Number 22 District of Harrison County with seven children:
M#96.1 John Davis- b 1820;
M#96.3 Elizabeth Davis- b 1825;
M#96.4 James Davis- b 1831;
M#96.5 Daniel Davis- b 1834;
M#96.6 Ellen Davis- b 1836;
M#96.7 Prudence Davis- b 1839;
M#96.8 Rachel Davis- b 1841.
"Gary" Davis and family, in the 1850 census, are recorded as living at enumeration (392-392) adjacent to George's (391-391).
George was listed as a farmer with a personal worth of $2,700 1850-dollars. In 1860, the 67-year old George's farm was worth $5,000, and he is recorded in the census with a 39-year old Sarah, either a daughter or a second wife, plus 19-year old Rachel and one year old George.
Harrison County was the birth land of a virtual Davis dynasty.
